RULES AND PLAYING CONDITIONS

(APPLYING TO ALL GRADES)

 

NOTE: This is not intended to be a complete set of rules and bye-laws, but a summary of conditions applying to Wairarapa Cricket Association ( Inc) matches. For a full set of rules refer to the Association’s rules and bye-laws.

RULES OF PLAY

The Laws of Cricket which came into force on 1 Oct 2000 and any subsequent updates shall apply to all grades of cricket except where superseded by the NZ Cricket Playing Conditions or Wairarapa Cricket Association rules and bye laws.

PENALTY RUNS

In Laws 2.6 and 42 where penalty runs can be awarded, any such penalty runs can only be applied by an official umpire.

FORFEITURE

If both captains forfeit their first innings on the first day of a 2-day match, no points will be awarded.

REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS

            All players shall be registered with the Wairarapa Cricket Association.

Secondary School players playing for clubs in the holiday period shall be registered by the club.

TRANSFERS

Transfer forms are to be filled in and approved by the Management Committee for all players transferring to a new club, regardless of the length of time that the player last played for the previous club.

No player may play in matches for more than one club in one season unless approved by the Management Committee.

A player leaving Secondary School may play for a club with the permission of the Management Committee.

BALLS

            Senior Matches: 4-piece Kookaburra Regulation or Club Match, Platypus Match

Open Grade: 2-piece Kookaburra Special Test, Tuff-Pitch, Red King 5.5oz, Platypus, Longlife & Googly.

CANCELLATIONS/GROUND TRANSFERS

These will be announced on the local Radio Stations - More FM and Classic Hits, no later than 10:30 am on the day of the scheduled start of the Match. Otherwise matches will proceed as scheduled.

LATE STARTS

If there is a delay to the start of a day’s play, the team not at fault reserves the right to make up time. If the delay is longer than 15 minutes, on written report from the umpires or the club secretary, the Management Committee may award the match to the non- offending team.

COVERING OF PITCHES

The HOME TEAM (as listed first in the draw published in the Wairarapa Times-Age) is responsible for the covering of the pitch. Failure to do so may result in loss of points and/or monetary fine.

FAILURE TO EMAIL IN THE RESULTS COULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OF POINTS AND/OR A MONETARY FINE

TEAM CARDS

It is the responsibility of each club’s administration officer/secretary to ensure results are received by the Association.

ATTIRE

Players shall wear proper cricket attire as determined by the Management Committee.

LIGHT APPEALS

In respect of light appeals where no official umpires are standing, any appeals must be agreed by player-umpires. In the event of no consensus being reached, the status quo stands.

UMPIRES

            Umpires will be appointed by the Wairarapa Cricket Umpires’ Association.
